The Wind

The Wind

The Wind

The winds have been chuntering all of the day,
I can’t perceive wind-speak to know what they say.

There’s been some drama,
I heard it gasp,
Pain & suffering,
I heard it rasp,
Lots of sorrow was cried in howls,
Much later, horror! It turned to yowls!

It whirled & swirled with whooshing power,
Its frightful circling made me cower!
Still; all at once, an eerie calm,
It caused me some concerned alarm!

I thought it whispered through the door,
I’m sure it breathed out through the floor!
All quiet in the aftermath
Then, suddenly, crudely, I heard it laugh!

15th March 2019

The strong wind has been felt by much of the country, over the past few days. The sounds, as it blows through buildings, trees, hedges etc, can be quite startling, at times, but it has its own kind of music. The catkins in the hedgerows have been dancing away merrily, to its tune!

I love this, and know exactly what you mean. Nature is pretty powerful all round. Scary sometimes, awesome always!

Thank you very much for those kind words, Peter! Indeed, it is..I find the wind the most scary but equally exhilarating. I think it’s because, unlike most, probably all other weather phenomena, you can’t see it!

I love it when we have wind storms and the windows on my poor old house rattle. It’s soothing to me for some reason.

    1. Debbie Jones says:

I know what you mean, Amanda. I find the sound of storms weirdly comforting, especially at night, if you’re lying awake, in that it lets you know that the world is still going on, out there. However, I find the destruction that it can do, rather disconcerting. I don’t think I could live where they have regular hurricanes, similar to the strength of those in the US! Eeeek!

      1. Amanda Ricks says:

No, I certainly couldn’t live in a hurricane area or especially in an earthquake zone. That’s much too scary for me.

You do understand wind-speak! This was fantastic, bringing the wind alive in words

    1. Debbie Jones says:

Thank you so much, Mabel, very much appreciated. We had a good few days of very high winds..it really does sound like it speaks to you at times..fascinating though! ?

I Would Love To Hear From You
