The Day Says Goodnight

The Day Says Goodnight

The Day Says Goodnight

The day gets ready to say goodnight.
It just gives in, there’s no big fight.
The waxing Moon has raised its head,
The sun is drifting down to bed.

Wild birds sing the day goodbye,
Raptors soar, with one last cry.
They’ve had their supper, it’s time to roost,
As the river swells, bulging, from rainfalls boost.

Nature Knows

Nature Knows

Nature knows how to weave a song,
It matters not if it’s short or long,
Seeing as nature can sing along,
Everything’s right, and nothing is wrong.

Nature knows when true life begins,
When petals are pure, there’s no floral sins.
Nature knows when it’s had enough,
When its time is over, & things get tough.

The Kite

The Kite

The Kite

King of the wind,
Master of sky,
What can you see
From your throne upon high?

Just look at your view,
A spellbinding scene,
Soar valleys & hillsides,
Skim canopies clean!

Dancing in circles,
Spreading your wings,
Gliding with grace,
On fresh breezes that sing.

Poems

Blackbird

Blackbird

Blackbird sat upon the post,
Blackbird, who do you love most?
Can you sing her your sweet song?
Will your sweetheart sing along?

Will you share your wriggly worms?
Will she sit & watch them squirm?
Preen with orange-yellow beak.
When your plumage needs a tweak.

Maiden Of The Marches

Maiden Of The Marches

Bitter, wild wind,
You claw at my face,
Your power so hungry,
Your calmness misplaced.

I thought I heard thunder,
Rage through the trees,
As gusts trespassed, racing,
With icy cold freeze.

The sky is a monster,
Of battles to come,
Thrust crystalline needles,
Extremities numb!

A snow blasting blizzard,
A skirmish of storms,
Hoping for change,
For the scene to transform.

Words

Words

As I stroll through these lanes full of wonder,
The words all leak out, like a flood,
I don’t know if they’re passed through osmosis,
Or something that flows through my blood!

Some words run out, like a river,
Sometimes they trickle like springs,
Some days they fly like sweet birds in the sky,
Or are borne upon gossamer wings.

One time a bee buzzed some words in my ear!
Another day, cows seemed quite mooooved,
The sheep cocked their heads on one side, then turned tail,
I Don’t know if they really approved!

The trees bowed & swayed, their old branches in wind,
Not sure it was yes, or plain, no!
The snails, slugs & spiders,
(I’m happy to say,)
Just turned round, boldly, & told me to go!

One Step

One Step

One Step

What does it feel like to step on a cloud,
Treading soft, fluffy pillows without any sound?

Can you perceive how to float up on high,
Fast orbit the moon & fly through the sky?

What sort of magic spell sets you so free,
To dance with the raindrops & capture the breeze?

Granny’s Lemons

Granny's Lemons

Granny’s Lemons

Granny’s eyes were failing,
Her head was foggy too,
When Spring came we went driving,
She stared out at the view.

The murmur of the engine,
The rattles & the hums,
The sunshine warming Granny’s face,
As Granny twiddled thumbs.

At some point on the journey,
Granny’s eyes would close,
Her head drooped, nodding gently,
The odd snore from her nose.
